How God Measures the Work of Our Hands

Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness… who makes his neighbor serve him for nothing and does not give him his wages.” — Jeremiah 22:13

There is a quiet warning woven into this verse, but also a powerful invitation. It reminds us that the foundation of anything meaningful, whether a career, a family, a dream, or a legacy, must be built on integrity. When we cut corners, exploit others, or chase success without conscience, we may rise quickly, but we rise on sand. And sand never holds.

Every day, we are building something. With every choice, every conversation, every promise kept or broken, we lay another brick in the structure of our lives. Jeremiah’s words challenge us to look at what we are constructing and ask whether it can stand the test of time. A life built on righteousness may take longer to assemble, but it stands firm because it is anchored in truth, compassion, and fairness.

There is also a call to honor the people around us. No one succeeds alone. When we treat others with dignity, when we value their time, their labor, and their humanity, we create an environment where everyone can flourish. A rising tide lifts all boats, but only when the tide is honest.

Integrity is not always the easiest path, but it is always the strongest one. It shapes our character, strengthens our relationships, and aligns our actions with our purpose. When we choose what is right, even when no one is watching, we build a life that cannot be shaken.

So today, let this verse be a reminder: build wisely, build honorably, and build with a heart that seeks justice. What you construct with integrity will not only stand, it will shine.
